an experience strategist's musings on how culture, technology and design drive innovation.
In a creative spark of genius for movie/gaming biz, the launch for Activision’s new game “Prototype” includes a really interesting Facebook Connect integration that weaves you (or in this case me) into the story line.
You’ll have to experience it yourself here to really get it (pictures, family photos, words and profiles within are all me).
Check out the video capture below that demonstrates the whole experience from start to finish (agreeing to facebook connect, loading info, and movie start).
So…What’s your take?

That’s one of the cooler uses of FB Connect I’ve seen. Did it sell me on the game? No. But very cool nonetheless.

I think it’s cool as hell – I got a little goosebumpy seeing faces I know so seamlessly integrated. But if it had been my own kid’s face getting scribbled out, I might have had a more visceral, kicked-in-the-gut reaction.

Interesting and well-executed integration of FB data, though I’m not sure I read it as a “transmedia” effort, per se, any more than any television or banner advertisement for an film or video game is transmedia. As far as a subtle and impactful use of available social data and media content, though… brilliant.
Also, for anyone who wants to try it for themselves, the link is here:

This is amazing. I am blown away by the advancement gaming is making. Next year we may need to go to E3
