Jamie Oliver wins the TED prize for his talk about how everyday food (school), learning how to cook (home) and commercial culture (main street) creates an unhealthy ecosystem. And it all comes down to the system that our kids live in:

    10% of what we spend on healthcare is on obesity.
    Education on how to teach kids about food has evaporated.
    If you have a son, daughter, niece, nephew or grandchild teach them how to cook. It will save their life (literally).
    Snack food, supermarket and beverage companies can be part of the solution if they move beyond being defensive about the problem.

Yet it’s not a rant about how bad things are, rather the idea that if we could start at the most basic level (teaching our kids about food basics and cooking) and moving industry to balance (moving beyond processed sugar and mass uber-mass production) in what they market to people, every doesn’t just win, they live:
