Gesture Interaction, Technology Everywhere

While the Wii may seem breakthrough and mundane at the same time, imagine years from now when the internet via a computer and touchpads (mobile devices) are less necessary and everything around you is immersive and interactive.  When gestures and typical physical interactions become embedded into real world experiences.

Check out the future as envisioned by Keiichi Matsuda.

Some thoughts on implications:

- Create an even more expanded of product.  Think about our notion of the “app store”, but less bounded by a provider like Apple and part of every environment you enter, every retailer you walk into.  Imagine the product extensions and the branded utility that would be possible?

- On the negative side there’s potential for enormous environmental- urban spam.  If you think pop-ups, twitter solicitations and malware were a nuisance it would seem the possiblities for intrusions could get alot more “interesting”.  On the other hand, disciples of  James Powderly and Banksy would certainly inherit an elaborate new pallette.  Imagine immersive video games and environmental animations as graffiti?

- You can also imagine a much more human, mentoring form of augmented intelligence somewhere between Morpheus and a friendly ghost.
